How To Use Your Menstrual Cup

Sterilise your cup: Before you use your cup every month you need to sterilize the cup to ensure its clean. Boil water and put it in a pot of boiled water for 5 minutes. You can add doTERRA lemon or Onguard oil for extra cleaning.
Ensure your hands are washed with natural soap before and after.
Do not leave your cup in for more than 7-8 hours before emptying.
The cup is made from 100% medical-grade silicone and is safe to use. Once inserted the menstrual cup will spring open from its fold, creating an airtight seal so you do not experience any leakage. It is secure and will not fall out or get lost inside of you. Relax & enjoy the experience of getting more in touch with your blood of creation.
Once your cycle is complete each month, clean it & store in the supplied fabric pouch.

Inserting your Sanctuary Menstruation Cup

    1. Wash your hands with soap and water.
    2. Fold the menstrual cup.
    3. Find the right position for you. Some prefer to squat down, others prefer to stand with one foot on the toilet seat. Choose what feels best for you.
    4. Insert the menstrual cup’s uppermost part in your vaginal opening in the same way you would insert a tampon. A tip is to rinse the cup with a little water before inserting it for extra moisture, which makes it easier to insert. Or insert the cup in the shower.
    5. When the menstrual cup’s uppermost part is just inside the vaginal opening, we recommend that you wiggle the cup a little by holding the little ball at the bottom. As you wiggle the cup gently and push it upwards a little at a time, you will let in a small amount of air. This makes it easier for the menstrual cup to unfold properly.
    6. Once the stem is situated inside your vagina, the cup is in place, give it a gentle tug to secure the seal. You can now celebrate the new found freedom and comfort of not thinking about your period for the next 7 – 8 hours.

    3. Locate the stem of the cup and gently pull it into position. Insert a finger into your vagina and slide it alongside the menstrual cup. Pinch the cup to break the seal (release the suction) and gently wiggle out.
    4. Empty the contents into the toilet or mother earth.
    5. Rinse the cup with water and insert it again according to the instructions above.
    6. Wash your hands with natural soap and water.

It is quite common for it to take a handful of tries before finding the right technique and feel entirely comfortable with using the menstrual cup. Give it a bit of time, and soon you will become a comfortable, efficient and normal habit in your life.
